Had a great weekend away in Verona. It all started with an early start Friday at Stansted, travelled there with Ryan and Lauren Stack and met up with Paul and Beth Shriever for a quick breakfast before we boarded our flight. Practice went well Friday and we were all excited about what the weekend would bring. Ryan has been on an MSC training plan since July and after a winter of solid training both Ryan and myself couldn't wait to see how he got on. Ryan looked strong all day Saturday making the final Saturday, but didn't get the top 3 we had been aiming for... However Sunday was a different matter, holeshoting from gate 7 and finishing with a strong 2nd place.

We knew things were going to be tough for Beth as this is was her first race as an Elite, we had goals to reach in which Beth excelled on both days. She had a strong 4th in the main Saturday so we were obviously over the moon! Unfortunately she didn't make the main Sunday but was brave enough to pick an inside gate between two of the strongest girls on the circuit rather than take an easy outside option in the semi.

I have also been working with some guys from Denmark over the winter. It was great to meet up and get a chance to watch them race. Good work from Emil Paulsen and Magnus Nielsen, great attitudes and lots of improvements over the weekend!

It was great to see some really  strong results from British riders and we had a great finish to a successful weekend having dinner in the local restaurant with the GB team.

Back home now for two days, Beth has a track session Tuesday and some sprints Wednesday, then we are off to Paris for the first rounds of this years World Cup Super X... Bring it on!

manchester national weekend

Well the weekend of March 9th to 11th saw MSC coaching's National debut.... It did feel a bit strange after four years with GB but it was also exciting to be doing things exactly how I want do them.

It all kicked off early with a training session with the Northern Outlaws, a young enthusiastic team that I have been working with through the winter, who I'm sure are going to go from strength to strength. They all just love riding their bikes which makes my job very easy!

Danny and Aoife O'Gorman travelled over from Ireland to race at Manchester, they both took advantage of the MSC Race Day Package that we offer. Both riders showed real grit and a passion for learning.Lots of improvements were made over the weekend with both riders coming out stronger on Sunday.
Another rider doing the Race Day Package was Daisy Brooke, she adapted to learning correct warm up/cool down procedures quickly and was flying on the rollers after a couple of minutes. Daisy had it tough as she was racing both classes at the weekend. On Saturday not only did she make her first National final on 20" but she also made the podium!
James Campbell has been working with MSC since last July, he follows a weekly plan that is permanently tweaked to cater for his needs and development. James has trained really hard both on and off the track throughout the winter. He kept a cool head all weekend and not only did he achieve his first National win, he did it on both days!

Jack Bowditch has also been using a Planner provided by MSC throughout the winter. He has really knuckled down and put the effort in when it counts. Jack made the finals both days in a really tough class, Saturday he finished 2nd!
At MSC we also do packages with Clubs and Teams, at the moment we work regularly with four clubs, three of which are in the top six after the weekend. These Clubs have listened to advice and the coaches and riders have gone away and worked hard through the winter and it's paid off!
, Beth rode well both days, the aim of the weekend was to have a look at what we need to fine tune with Zolder and Paris coming up in the next few weeks. Beth was supported all weekend by her Sports Therapist Cheryl Morton from The Healing Zone http://www.the-healing-zone.co.uk.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              I haven't mentioned every rider MSC is working with as there will be other reports in which to do this, but a big well done to Matthew Gilston who trained his socks off over the last nine or ten months only to get ill just before the weekend. Matthew stayed at home Saturday to rest but gave it a go Sunday and made the main while still not feeling 100%.
Many thanks to Billy Wright, Suzanne McHugh and Cheryl Morton for the photos!
